Trade Winds Aviation currently employs six full-time Airframe and Powerplant FAA certificated mechanics, three of which currently hold the highest possible level of achievement in aviation: the Inspection Authorization. The cumulative training required to become an A&P mechanic is 18 months per rating, or 30 months if combined, which equates to approximately 5200 hours of experience. The inspection authorization requires an additional three years of experience, the last two of which must include active engagement, for a total of over 9000 hours of experience. This is at least 6 times more experience than an Airline Transport Pilot’s requirements. It takes extremely rare and unique individuals to follow that curriculum, and our mechanics take their work very seriously. We will not compromise safety or airworthiness for any reason.
